As great and wonderful as long weekends may be, they sure are hella exhausting. I was easily passed out on the couch before 9:00 last night.
Steven and I spent the holiday weekend at the beach with my parents celebrating my mom's birthday. We drove down after work on Friday (or more like after a half-day at work on Friday) and spent two full days soaking up some sun, drinking lots of beer, watching some football, and doing some major birthday partying.
The beauty that is the gulf coast was showing off for us the minute we reached the the Florida line.
Once we finally made it to the beach Friday evening we met up with my parents for dinner then it was off to a bar for some drinks and dancing.
Saturday morning we woke up and headed out to the beach (but of course not without first putting on my gameday Roll Tide button). The fiancé even caught a saltwater catfish.. with his hands. I'm so proud.
After soaking up sun and drinking the cooler full of beer, we headed out to a local sports bar to officially begin college football season.
After the game we headed over to one of our favorite beach side restaurants, Bud and Alleys, for dinner and a firework show over the water.
Sunday morning we woke up and did a little more of the same. We spent most of the day on the beach with drink in hand, then went out for a celebratory birthday dinner. Happy Birthday, mom!
Thankfully the only rain we got the entire weekend was while we were trying to drive home. There is something about leaving the beach on a rainy day that I just love. It definitely beats leaving on sunny day! Unfortunately the rain did cause for an extra long drive home, but it was all worth it.
And now to find the motivation to get through this four day work week. Why is it that short weeks always seem like the longest weeks ever?
Sounds like a great weekend! Where do you get your adorable shirts? I love the off shoulder look and that black and white one is super awesome!
ReplyDeleteLooks like SUCH a great time. ROLL TIDE ROLL (ps!!) We got rain here on Monday too but in true FL (or lower Alabama as some may call it) fashion, it cleared up two hours later and the sun was shining!
