I've noticed several pretty new faces around these parts lately, so I thought this might be a good time to give you a little more insight into the blogger behind the blog. Here are a few things that you may or may not know about me and my life...
You might not know that I graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Communication Studies. I also have a minor in Political Science.
You might not know that I spent a semester in New York. I did a marketing internship for a company in the heart of Manhattan. It was the best experience of my life, and I encourage anyone and everyone to get out of your comfort zone and do something like I did. It was a memory that I will cherish for life.
You might not know that I have two dogs who I treat more like my children. Ok, if you have been around here at all then you already know this. Cooper is my first born child. I brought him home the summer after my freshman year in college when he was only a six week old pup. It was just him and me for years. Kane is my second born. Steven and I adopted Kane from the Humane Society in February. He is a hyper and rambunctious puppy, but he loves nothing more than to sit in your lap and cuddle.
You might not know that I am engaged and marrying the love of my life on April 12, 2014. Steven and I met early last summer at a local bar and have been inseparable ever since. From our first date where I showed up wearing purple pants, to the night he put my name in lights at the Alabama Theatre and asked me to be his wife we knew that we were meant to be together. I can't wait to say "I do" in only 5 short months!
You might not know that I have two tattoos. I got my first tattoo when I was 19 years old. It is on my lower (side) back and it is the word Believe with three stars surrounding it. Each star represents to believe in something different: believe in your faith, believe in others, and believe in yourself. My second tattoo is still fairly new. It is on the side of my ribcage and is the infinity sign with the word always written through it. This has a very special meaning to Steven and I.
You might not know that I have a younger brother. A 21 year old frattastic little brother who is currently living the life at Ole Miss.
You might not know that I don't know what my natural hair color is. I turned my hair orange using sun-in when I was 14 years old and have been getting it professionally colored ever since. That is 10 years of coloring my hair every six weeks for those of you keeping up. That's a long time, and honestly, I don't see it stopping anytime soon. If I had to guess, I would say my hair is some shade of brown, but I'm a blonde at heart and a blonde is what I will always be.
You might not know that I was a cheerleader. I spent most of my time growing up in the gym practicing routines, and I miss those days more and more everyday. I started cheering for a youth football team when I was 10 years old and I was immediately hooked. When I was 14 I began cheering competitively and followed that passion until I graduated high school.
You might not know that I still live in my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. The ironic thing about this is that I hated Birmingham growing up. I hated everything about the city and vowed that the minute I got out, I would never return. Fast forward several years later, here I am and I couldn't be happier about it. I've gone from despising Birmingham to loving everything about this city. The culture, the history, the atmosphere, I love it all. Steven and I just bought our first home right in the heart of downtown Birmingham. We love this city and can't wait to begin our lives together here.
You might not know that I work as a Marketing and Communication Coordinator. I work for a behavioral health company located in Birmingham. I handle everything from our website, to our blog, to our social media, to our marketing materials, to proposals, to everything in between.
You might not know that I am a huge New York Jets fan. My love for the Jets began even before moving to New York. I'm not sure what first turned me on to the Jets, but I've been a follower for years. It was only after I spent my 21st birthday at a Monday night football game watching my first Jets game in Metlife Stadium that I became a true fan.
You might not know that being late is my all time biggest pet peeve. I hate it. I hate it so much. I hate when someone is late meeting me, and I hate even worse when something makes me late (which is a very, very rare occasion). It was instilled in my brain from my coach back in my cheerleading days that "if you are on time, you're late." She wanted us 15 minutes early for anything and everything. That motto has followed me through the years and I am notoriously 15 minutes early for everything.

There you have it. I'm not living in LA or New York (anymore at least) among the rich and famous. I'm not writing for a fashion magazine or traveling the world. I'm just me. Living a life that I never saw coming, but one that exceeds my biggest dreams. I don't know what the future may hold, but I know that I have a loving fiancé that I get to spend the rest of my life with, an amazing family who supports my craziest of dreams, and friends that I can count on no matter what. And in the end, isn't that all that really matters?
