Only A Southerner Would Understand

4.03.2014

1. The difference between a redneck and good ole' boy.
Believe me, there is a difference.

2. Football
More specifically, college football.
Bonus Points for Alabama Football.

3. "Bless your heart" isn't a term of endearment.
Sometimes it's our way of calling someone a hot mess.

4. Ice tea should always be sweet tea.
What exactly is the point of unsweet tea?

5. Mosquitos in the summertime.
Someone please tell me why the hell those things exist?

6. Weddings are planned around football season (see #2).
My wedding would be exhibit A.

7. A coke doesn't always mean a coca-cola.
Sometimes it means a Dr. Pepper

8. Grits.
They are delicious.

9. Humidity in the summertime.
If you haven't experienced humidity sweat or frizzy hair, you haven't really lived.

I'm so excited to introduce you today to the fabulous Casey from Love & Waffles. Casey is also a bride to be, so of course I love reading all about her wedding planning experience!

Take it away Casey:
Hello everyone! I am Casey and I am visiting from my blog Love & Waffles. Some of my favorite things to write about are my engagement (June 14 cannot come soon enough!), tv shows I am obsessed with (Greys, Scandal, Parks and Rec), and everyday life (like what superpower I want to have). I started writing to keep myself creative. I learned quickly after accepting my first job after college graduation that just because you work in the creative industry doesn’t mean you get to showcase your own personal creativity.

When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging a few months ago. Sometimes I feel like I am losing my individuality as I try to conquer the world post college graduation. I wanted something to help express myself and my own creativity.

How did you come up with the name of your blog?
My top two favorite things are my fiancé and our Sunday morning waffle tradition. Nothing is better than relaxing with the love of your life while kicking back with a waffle. I want to
share my favorite things with the people who read my blog.

What three words best describe you and why?
Silly, hungry, and outgoing.
My fiancé would tell you I have the silliest personality in the world. I always like to have fun. Hungry is a good word to describe me because I am always hungry. Outgoing is pretty easy, I have no problem talking to (almost) anyone I meet!

What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I really like sleeping and watching Netflix. Lame I know, but it is oh so true. I also dance, like in my house a lot and sometimes I put on pants and go to the mall or to dinner on the weekends.

What are three things that you couldn't live without?
My cellphone, the internet, and my laptop. I would’ve said my fiancé and family but it said “things” and I really love the internet.

What is your favorite sports team?
Cardinal baseball, hands down. I am a very proud member of Cardinal nation. I am not a fan of other sports like football and basketball.

  1. Oh my goodness number 6!! When we picked our wedding date (I knew I wanted a wintery but not too wintery wedding), I completely forgot about the biggest football day of the year - the Superbowl! My wedding was the day before the Superbowl this year; my brother in law had choice words about flying back to his Navy base from Nashville and missing the game. OOPS! ;)

  2. New follower :) Love number 6. That's also the way it is up here in Wisconsin. My dad, and husband, and who am I kidding, me too, were very specific about dates that we could get married so they did not interfere with spring football and football season. Man it was not an easy task!! Happy almost wedding day : )

  4. 1, 5, & 9 are something that I definitely understood growing up in rural MN where we also, rather than around football games, plan weddings around fishing/hunting openers.

  5. This couldn't be more true! Love it :)

I'm originally from CT, and moved to FL about 4 years ago. College football isn't that big up there, but it's HUGE down here. We quickly realized we needed a team and have been big fans ever since!

  6. #6 is SO true. When we were choosing our date we had to make sure it was NOT the weekend of the UK vs. UofL game!
    God bless the south!

  7. There is absolutely no point to unsweet tea. My boyfriend the other day brought home the leftover gallon of unsweet tea from a catered lunch at work and I said, "why?"

  10. I will have to agree, the SEC knows football. And there is no better conference out there. Eeek no offense to anyone. I'm a convert and my bf is a Gator, but mad props for the SEC ;)

  13. Yes! I say "bless your heart" all the time! My moms whole side of the family are yankee's and they all drink sweet tea. I forget when I am up there I have to order my sweet tea with sugar which makes NO sense. And they don't give you real sugar either. It's bananas!
