You would think with the time change this weekend and the
fact that the sun comes up earlier that it would be easier to wake up this
morning, but no. Just as difficult as any other Monday morning. That could also have something to do with the road trip Steven and I took this weekend, but regardless, I want to crawl back in bed and not move until tomorrow. That tired.
Speaking of weekend, Steven celebrated his 10 year high school reunion this past weekend in his hometown in Tennessee, so naturally we made the trip up to join in on the celebrations. Here's how it all went down:
Friday.
Steven and I left for Tennessee early Friday afternoon and
arrived just in time to make it to the high school football game where he was
able to reconnect with old friends from the past. After the football game Steven’s best friend
from home took us out to a few local bars to hang out and catch up. I would
show you pictures of all the fun we had Friday night, but I forgot to take any.
My bad.
Saturday.
Since we didn’t get into town until after dark on Friday, we
spent the Saturday morning driving through the town so Steven could see how
much his hometown had changed since he left nearly ten years ago. We drove to
his old home, his school, and all the local places that he spent his teenage
years hanging out in. This city girl enjoyed spending the day way back in the
country, even if it was a little very much out of my element.
After spending the day outside Steven and I drove back to
the hotel to get ready for his reunion party that was held at the local country
club. I could tell how excited Steven was to see all his old friends, and we
both had so much fun at the party. It seemed like we had only been there for a
few minutes when they were turning on the lights and yelling last call. The
night flew by and it was much fun to hear Steven’s friends tell all sorts of
stories about their high school days.
Sunday.
We made the nearly five hour drive back to Birmingham on
Sunday and arrived back in town just in time to pick the dogs up from puppy
jail the puppy resort where they were staying. They were exhausted from
playing all weekend with their new puppy friends. They both jumped up on the
couch and didn’t move until we picked them up and carried them to bed. This is
how Cooper spent his evening. He obviously missed his mommy!
Oh, and did you notice that things look a bit different
around here? I know I just went through a design change a couple of months ago,
but I’m pretty indecisive and didn’t love the new design. A huge thank you to
Jana from Jana Tolman Designs for my new look. She was so wonderful to work
with, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new design.
Looks like a fun weekend!
