It's Friday... even though it feels like a Tuesday... but is thankfully it's definitely Friday. I usually come to this little blank space every morning with lots of exciting and upbeat things to talk about. Today isn't one of those days. In fact, I can't think of one single thing that I want to talk about. I can, however, think of plenty of things that I don't want to talk about.
I don't want to talk about football. I stayed up way past my bedtime last night watching a game that I rather not ever speak of again. Alabama was supposed to come out last night and show Oklahoma and the rest of the country that, despite the standings, they were still the #1 team in the country. That didn't happen. they weren't even the #1 team in the Superdome last night. McCarron was off all night, the offensive line didn't even show up to play, and the overall atmosphere just felt unenthusiastic. When it was all said and done Alabama lost their second straight game in a row. It's going to be ok though because the last time Alabama lost the Sugar Bowl (to Utah in 2009) they came back the following season to win a national title. We'll see you next season. Roll Tide forever.
I don't want to talk about the friggin' toe numbing cold weather outside. I live in Alabama where temperatures are supposed to stay well above the freezing mark. Last night the low was 18 degrees. 18! The high today is only supposed to get to 35 degrees, and they are talking single digits by early next week. That's the coldest temperatures Alabama has seen in well over ten years. Yes, I'm aware that you northerners are rolling your eyes in disgust of me right now, but remember, I live in the south. I'm not used to this kind of cold. How many more days until summer??
I don't want to talk about the fact that the holidays are over. Christmas came and went this year faster than ever before (yes, I'm aware that I probably say that every year), and New Years was even like a blur at this point. My favorite time of the year is officially over and done with and that my friends, is just a little depressing. Starting next week all things must return to normal and that includes five regular business days. Bah humbug.
On the bright side (because despite my Negative Nancy attitude this morning I can still find a bright side to things) today is not Tuesday. It's Friday. So enjoy the remainder of your short work week today then go home and stay hibernated indoors until this arctic mess blows over and you can once again feel your feet. I promise to return next week back to my upbeat little self.
Oh, and because you sat through that little rant of mine I'm giving you 50% off all ads through Monday. Just use the promo code happynewyear at checkout.
Does "not talking about football" but then going on to write an entire paragraph about said football qualify me to link up with Sarah today? I'm going to go with yes.
Happy weekend!

I am SO unexcited about a 5 day work week...I don't even know how I'm going to handle it. And the weather...that's what I don't want to talk about. We probably have over a foot of snow right now and I'm just sick of it.
ReplyDeleteOh my! 18 degrees? I don't do well with cold weather, I dont even know what 18 degrees feels like! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI am so bummed the Holidays are over, I wish they'd last longer. & 5 work days next week is going to be the death of me.

Ahhh! The game was TERRIBLE. The last minute of the game clock summed up the entire game. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteOoof, I feel your pain. My Sun Devils were a two touchdown favorite over Texas Tech in the Holiay Bowl and we basically were run out of there. ...I'm still getting over it.
ReplyDeleteYes it totally qualifies, duh! I'm sorry about Alabama (I really had a difficult time typing that out for you) I honestly thought you guys would murder Oklahoma. On to basketball season is how I'm looking at this!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see Alabama lose. At least you're not a Georgia fan and watched them lose five times this year :( I feel your pain though. And this cold weather is totally not working for me. Why do we even need winter? Pointless!
ReplyDeleteI am equally unhappy about the cold & that the holidays are over. Mostly because a)I hate cold & b)them being over means I have to go back to work tomorrow. I DON'T WANNA!
