Halloween Treats: Ghost Brownies

10.30.2014

Is it just me or did Halloween sneak up on us this year? A few weeks ago my office decided that we would host an office Halloween party and asked for volunteers to bring food. I quickly volunteered for desserts because I thought it would be the easiest and quickest thing to do thanks to the Publix bakery.

Sometime between then and now, however, I decided to do something crazy and attempt to make a dessert instead of just buying something pre-made. My first go-to was obviously Pinterest where I found an entire section of delicious Halloween treats. Naturally I searched until I found something fool proof enough that even I couldn't mess up. That's when I landed on these delicious Ghost Brownies from Betty Crocker.

They seemed simple enough and didn't call for ton of ingredients, so I figured I would give them a shot. And wouldn't you know it, they turned out adorable! They didn't take long at all to make and cleanup afterwards was a breeze. I couldn't wait to get them to the office this morning!
Ghost Brownies

Ingredients:
- Large marshmallows
- Brownies (I actually bought the precooked brownies from Publix, but feel free to make your own
- Vanilla icing
- Black edible decorating gel

Directions:
- Cut brownies so they are about an inch larger than marshmallows and place on wax paper
- Add a dab of icing to the top of each brownie and stick marshmallow on top
- Microwave remaining icing for 1:00 minute or until icing is fully melted
- Spoon out melted icing onto the tops of each marshmallow and allow it to drip down the sides and onto the brownie
- Let sit for about 30 minutes or until icing has hardened
- Add eyes and mouth to marshmallows with black decorating gel
- Enjoy!

Recipe adapted from Betty Crocker and can be found here.
