A Valentine's Date Tradition

2.13.2015

Valentine's Day is not my favorite holiday. In fact, it actually ranks quite low on my holiday spectrum. I've never been a huge fan of dressing up and fighting the ridiculous crowds for an overpriced meal. It's just not my thing. I also don't think that I need a holiday to express my love to my husband. Our love is something that should be celebrated 365 days a year.

That being said, it should be no surprise that Steven and I aren't planning a huge, elaborate date night tomorrow. Tomorrow night you will find us doing the same thing that we have done every Valentine's Day since we started dating - going out for pizza and beer.

What? You don't find splitting a large pizza pie and a pitcher of beer sexy and romantic?

It may not be the fanciest of dates we will ever go on, but it's our own little tradition. It's a tradition that I hope we keep up for years to come. So while you're out tomorrow night fighting for a table at the most popular restaurant in town, I'll be at my favorite little pizza joint enjoying a carb overload and toasting to another wonderful year with my Valentine.

Happy Valentine's weekend!

  1. I am with you 100%. I dislike the fact that in the end it is just a holiday to spend money on useless gifts and waste time in a packed environment. Last year we had chickfila, and this year we are staying home.

  2. That sounds perfect to me! The stereotypical V-day stuff is so silly! I just look at is as a way to celebrate love, extra hard! We usually stay in with an indulgent dinner and dessert or go out somewhere very low key. Enjoy each other.

  3. i love little traditions! chris and i usually always go to the movies where you can reserve your seats..so it makes the crowd a little less crazy and you can get food there too! he's out of town this weekend so we are continuing the tradition on monday :) have fun with your hubby--eat a slice for me!!

  4. I love your tradition!!! We are on the same page for Valentine's Day. Chris and I think that it is ridiculous and we do the same thing every year as well. We stay in and I make full fat homemade lasagna. Who wants to go out to some overpriced overcrowded restaurant??? Not us! I hope you guys have a very Happy Valentine's Day! I hope to see you next Thursday!! :D

  8. I love your tradition!! Personally, for us, a large pizza and pitcher of beer is a romantic date night. It might not be for others but it's who we are. We aren't going to go out of our ways to be overly romantic when neither one of us are that way. Have a great time!!
