Baby Sparks #2 Bumpdate || 29 & 30 Weeks

12.27.2017

How far along: 30 weeks, 2 days

Due Date: March 5, 2018

Baby is the size of: a Cantaloupe! He's well over three pounds, but since I haven't had an ultrasound since 18 weeks I don't know his exact measurements. He feels pretty big, or at least long, in there! I feel kicks in my ribs and jabs way down low.

Gender: a precious little BOY!!

Symptoms: Exhaustion and constantly feeling out of breath. The nesting has also kicked in full gear. I took every last Christmas decoration down yesterday and started making room for all the baby gear that we will pull out in the coming weeks.

Also worth noting, I passed my one hour glucose test a couple of weeks ago. YAY! I failed the one hour test with Charlie Beth and had to go back for the dreaded three hour test (which I passed). I was very thankful I didn't have to do that again this time around.

Labor Signs: Lots and lots (and lots) of Braxton Hicks.

Weight Gain: up 10 lbs

Movement: He's still a very active little boy in there. He is most active in the evenings starting around 7:30 or 8 and lasting for a few hours.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing specific. I have been eyeing sweets a lot more lately. Sweets were my go to craving during my entire pregnancy with Charlie Beth (which is probably why I failed that one hour glucose test with her...).

Missing anything: Wine.

Sleep: No complaints. I have to turn from one side, to the middle (propped up on my back) and back to my other side multiple times throughout the night. I start aching pretty bad if I stay in one position for too long.

Mood: Emotional

Maternity Clothes: Yep. Leggings and tanks with oversized cardigans are my go to right now.

Nursery: Santa brought me all the furnishings and decorations that I need for Tucker's nursery. I have to finish painting the dresser/changing table and then I'll start on the fun part. I'm eager to get it finished!

Best moment this week: Christmas with Charlie Beth. Christmas was so much more fun this year watching it through her eyes. She is obsessed with Santa (or "HoHo" as she calls him) and loved all her gifts he brought her. We had a long, fun Christmas day filled with lots of family time, food, and presents.

Looking forward to: Checking off all the to do items in anticipation for our baby boy's arrival!

Baby Sparks #2 Bumpdate || 28 Weeks

12.12.2017

How far along: 28 Weeks, 1 day

Due Date: March 5, 2018

Baby is the size of: An eggplant or a coconut. He weighs around 2.5 lbs and is about 15 inches long. His skin is smoothing out as he gains more weight and gets more fat on those little bones.

Gender: a precious little BOY!!

Symptoms: This belly is big and it's heavy.

Labor Signs: I found myself back at the doctor last week after contracting from the time I woke up until about 2:00 that afternoon. They were coming every 30 minutes on the dot. I called the nurse and she told me I definitely needed to be seen to make sure it wasn't early labor. Thankfully, all is still good! I'm still on a few restrictions via doctors order and have been told to stay off my feet as much as possible. I'm still having Braxton Hicks daily, but thankfully they haven't been too frequent or consistent since last week's doctor visit.

Weight Gain: up 10 lbs

Movement: I can tell he's getting bigger by the day! I'm feeling less quick kicks and more rolls. This morning I watched as he rolled from one side of my belly all the way to the other side. It looked like my bump was doing the wave.

Cravings/Aversions: Still nothing specific. I've found myself with a bit more of a sweet tooth lately, but I'm trying to steer clear of anything too sweet before my glucose test on Thursday.

Missing anything: Sleeping on my stomach

Sleep: I'm tossing and turning from one side to the other most of the night, but I'm still sleeping pretty decent.

Mood: Is exhausted a mood? Because that's what I am 99% of the time.

Maternity Clothes: All day, every day.

Nursery: We haven't done anything else since painting the room. There are still a couple of spots on the walls that we need to touch up. Next up, putting the crib together and painting the dresser. Hoping to decorate soon after Christmas!

Best moment this week: Experiencing all kind of new holiday traditions with our girl. This is such a fun age! She loves "Ho Ho" as she so adorably calls him.

Looking forward to: Spending the weekend with family celebrating Christmas.

Baby Sparks #2 Bumpdate || 25, 26 & 27 Weeks

12.04.2017

How far along: 27 Weeks, 0 Days - Officially in the third trimester!!

Due Date: March 5, 2018

Baby is the size of: a head of lettuce! He's around 14-15 inches long and weighing around 2 lbs. Baby boy is now opening and closing his eyes with ease. His brain is developing at a rapid pace and is beginning to show activity. His brain is now able to control his lungs and regulate his body temperature. Grow baby grow!
Gender: a precious little BOY!!

Symptoms: Heartburn, Braxton hicks, pressure, and normal third trimester aches and pains.

Labor Signs: I can't believe it's already time to add this section into the weekly bumpdates! I feel like my first trimester dragged on and on, but since then this pregnancy has flown by. I started experiencing Braxton hicks pretty early this pregnancy. Like really early. I first started noticing them around 21-22 weeks. I wasn't even sure if it was really them because it was so early, but my doctor confirmed that yes, it was most likely Braxton hicks.
Fast forward a few weeks and they started coming more frequently, especially at night. There have been a few nights where I've been having 4 and 5 and hour for several hours. After lots of water and a warm bath, the seem to subside enough for me to fall asleep.
Last week (at 26 weeks gestation) I was experiencing between 4-6 and hour. They were frequent enough to warrant a phone call to my doctor who wanted me to come in and be checked just to make sure all was good. Thankfully I am not dilated, but the contractions are causing some things to kick start. It's WAY too early for anything like that, so I was sent home with instructions to stay off my feet as much as possible (easier said than done with a two year old at home, right?! haha). Things have seemed to slow down since then, thankfully. I'm still having Braxton Hicks daily, but they aren't coming as frequent as they were last week.

Weight Gain: Up 8 lbs.

Movement: This little boy is still a very active little one! He spends a good portion of the day kicking away in my belly. I love feeling every movement!

Cravings/Aversions: Salads still sound delicious. And I could always go for something sweet at the end of the day.

Missing anything: Same ole' stuff. I did find a yummy non-alcoholic wine that I enjoyed over Thanksgiving. I've tried other non-alcoholic wines and have found them all to be disgustingly sweet. This was actually really delicious. It's a Cabernet and if you're pregnant and missing wine, I highly suggest you find some of this! It's called Ariel and I found it at a local grocery store.

Sleep: I'm waking up a few times a night and having to switch positions, but otherwise no complaints.

Mood: Exhausted.

Maternity Clothes: Still rotating mainly leggings and tops with sweater and cardigans. I'm hoping to make it through the rest of this pregnancy without anymore maternity purchases. I'm loving Free People (as always) because so many of their tops are flowy enough to accommodate the bump.

Nursery: There is finally progress being made in the nursery! His room is painted and the crib has arrived. I'm hoping to get the crib installed this weekend and the rest of his furniture painted. We are using my great-grandmother's old dresser as a changing table/dresser, so I'm painting it to match the color of the crib. Once all the furniture is done it will be ready to decorate.

Best moment this week: There have been so many fun memories of the past few weeks. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration a few weeks ago with family and have doing all the holiday things since then. The holidays with a two year old is so much fun!

Looking forward to: Everything about the Christmas season. Charlie Beth is loving all things Christmas this year, so it's been really fun experiencing it all through her eyes.
