If You Really Knew Me

12.05.2013

Every morning I wake up and find that my passion for blogging has grown stronger. I love having a place to come to each day and write out all the thoughts that are jumbled in my head, and I am blessed to be reminded each day how many people are reading these thoughts of mine. The comments from my readers, the phone calls from family, the encouraging words that I hear on a daily basis, they all mean more to me than any of you will ever know. It also seems like everyday I am finding out that more and more people are venturing over to my little part of the internet. So, I thought now would be the perfect time to give everyone a little more insight into the blogger behind behind the blog.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I am usually the first person to show up to the office in the morning. The early bird gets the worm? Or something like that I suppose.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I cry when I read an emotional story about an animal, but I rarely shed a tear when it comes to stories about actual humans. Go ahead and judge me.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I have a tendency to get really worked up about small things. So much so that I begin to think up worst case scenarios in my head and usually ugly cry about the situation while I'm in my car alone. Drama queen maybe?

// If you really knew me then you would know that about halfway through my college career I seriously considered changing paths and focusing on a education in fashion. I've always had a dream to work in the fashion industry.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I can't go anywhere without my phone. Not even a trip to the grocery store. If I find that I've left my phone at home then I will turn around and drive back to pick it up (no matter how far I've driven). I also go in freak out mode when my phone dies and I have no immediate way to charge it.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I never believed in "love at first sight" until I met my fiancé. I actually knew within weeks of dating that he was the one. He knew too. We dated for six months before he proposed to me. Then I made him wait sixteen months to get married. Four months to go, honey!

// If you really knew me then you would know that I have two tattoos. One on my lower back (side, not middle) that says Believe surrounded by three stars. Each star represents believing in something different - believe in yourself, believe in others, believe in your faith. I was nineteen when I got that tattoo and my parents were actually with me. My second tattoo is still fairly new. It is the infinity sign with the word always written through it. That one is placed on the side of my ribcage (yes, it hurt like hell actually).

// If you really knew me then you would know that I'm really bad at making decisions. Especially small decisions. Decisions like where to eat dinner or what color to paint my nails. I hate them.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I'm obnoxiously competitive. I'm also a really sore loser. I hate losing. Whether I'm playing a board game with the family or watching my team blow a chance for a third national championship in a row, I mean business. I hate losing. I hate it more than I hate making decisions.

// If you really knew me then you would know that I'm a true believer in destiny. Everything happens for a reason. I don't care how cliche that sounds, I believe it. If something doesn't work out, it's only because there is something else better in your future.

  5. Oh my gosh! Number 2 about crying when you hear sad stories of animals!-- I am the same to a T! and sometimes I feel so heartless when I hear things about humans. I'm so glad I am not alone!

  7. Oh girl! I've got to be at work at least 15-20 minutes early to get all of my "ducks in a row".. and I cry about animals too. Well, and children because I've lost my son a birth and I feel like there's so many people out there that don't value a child's innocence, etc. And I've got 16 tattoos :)

  9. I cry about animals too. Because they're so innocent! I tend to sometimes get worked up over silly things too. I have to remind myself that it's silly!

  11. I'm right there with you on crying about animals! Movies, news stories, facebook posts from shelters, you name it. If I see an article half the time I don't even read it because I know from the headline that I will cry.

I'm one of your new readers and I'm really enjoying your blog so far! Maybe it's because I'm a fellow Alpha Phi! :)
