If there is anything I love in life more than Christmas it's dressing up for a costume party. You put those two things together and you have one happy little girl over here. So you know I was on cloud nine Saturday night when the fiancé and I got dressed up in our tackiest Christmas clothes and headed to my parents house for a Tacky Sweater Christmas Party. My take on tacky Christmas included a tree skirt in which I wore as an actual skirt, a sequined ruffle shirt, a huge ass silver glitter bow, grey tights, and my favorite 6 inch royal blue heels. It was adorable if I do say so myself. Steven's outfit included velvet santa short boxers, a Griswold t-shirt, a cousin Eddie hat, a red and blue bow tie (because why not?!), and boots. If that doesn't scream classy couple than I don't know what does.
Nearly everyone participated in the tackiness which made it so fun. My best friend was in town from Atlanta, so when I invited her to the party she didn't hesitate to throw together an outfit and come enjoy the fun. The best part, we ended up wearing practically the same tacky outfit. We both went with the tree skirts and oversized glitter bows. #bffproblems. It was precious!
We even had a contest for best dressed. We gave everyone a piece of paper to vote on who was the best dressed and the winner won this six pack of ReinBeer. The winner was a classic cousin Eddie complete with dickie and hat.
Oh, and I got creative and decided to make Santa hat brownies as a dessert. I found the idea on Pinterest and thought it looked simple enough that I could handle it. I bought pre-made brownies in the bakery department of the grocery store (because who has time to actually bake brownies and then cut them into little circles?) then toped the brownies with a layer of white icing, placed a strawberry on top of that, and then finished it with a dot of white icing on the top of the strawberry. Easy as can be, and they turned out to be adorable!
All in all, I can say without a doubt that the party was a hit! We had so much fun parading around in our tacky outfits. However, I'm fairly certain that I am going to be cleaning up glitter remnants left behind from my outfit for months. I've washed my hair twice since Saturday night and my hair is still full of silver glitter. Real cute.
Oh, and Saturday was also this little boy's 1st birthday! Steven and I adopted Kane from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society in February when he was just a little tiny baby. He's grown a ton in the first year and now I can't even imagine our life without this hyper little fur monster. Happy Birthday baby boy!
