Honeymoon {Part One}

4.23.2014

I am so anxious about recapping our wedding day, but rather than share with you the very few iPhone pictures that managed to find their way onto my phone, I would rather wait until we get some of the professional pictures back and share them. The few pictures that I have just don't do our wedding day justice! Instead, I figure I will work backwards by recapping our honeymoon (in multiple parts) and then get to the wedding weekend after that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Steven and I left out bright and early on Monday morning for our honeymoon. We were at the airport by 6:30am and drinking our first Bloody Mary of the trip by 7:00am (I'm a nervous flyer, so I needed the liquid courage. Plus, it was our honeymoon!).
We spent seven days and six nights at the all inclusive Sandals resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I had heard wonderful things about this resort in particular, so I was so anxious about our arrival. After making it through customs in Jamaica, we were whisked away to the Sandals VIP lounge while we waited on our bus. There, Steven and I indulged in our first of many Red Stripe. Thankfully we did, because the bus ride to the resort was not something I care to relive on a daily basis. First off, they drive on the wrong side of the road, but even worse than that, they drive like crazy maniacs! The trip to the resort, however, was (thankfully) very short. We pulled up to the resort and before the gates opened I started getting a knot in my stomach. This is where we are spending our honeymoon? From the outside of the gates it looked like the slums. Once the gates opened, however, and the bus pulled into the resort I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. It was beautiful!
Steven and I decided to indulge (it was our honeymoon after all!), so we chose the package that included a concierge service, beautiful ocean view room, and in room fully stocked bar. This also meant that we were taken to the VIP lounge for check-in and our first of many rum drinks. After check-in, we were taken up to our room where we got our first few of the beautiful bright blue ocean. Our room was perfect, our view was perfect, it was looking like the start to a perfect honeymoon.
That night, Sandals hosted a "Beach Party" on the beach complete with more food than anyone could ever eat, beautiful scenery, and a reggae band. Steven and I stayed and enjoyed the music for a little while, but we were so exhausted from the wedding weekend and the traveling that we called it a night pretty early and went back to our room. When we got to our room we were surprised with a bed full of flower petals and an adorable do not disturb sign. We put on our fluffy robes (sorry for posting the picture of our robes honey!), curled up in bed, and listened to the sounds of the water before drifting off to sleep.
To be continued....
Stay tuned for part two!
