When Blogging Becomes More Than Writing

5.09.2014

I started my blogging journey a little over a year ago. I wanted a place where I could document the year leading up to our wedding, a place where I could write about the adventures my (now) husband and I have taken together.Through my journey, however, blogging has become so much more than just writing. Through this space I have met amazing women from across the country. I have laughed with them, celebrated with them, and most recently, cried with them.

On my wedding day I received an outpour of congratulatory messages through Twitter, Instagram, and email from bloggers across the country. I was overcome with gratitude towards every single person that reached out to me on that special day. It's truly amazing how someone you have never even met in real life becomes a part of your life, a friend. Someone who is there to celebrate the milestones in your life, and someone who is there to support you through the hard times.

This week the blogging community has come together to support a family who is going through the unimaginable. This past weekend Jacqui from Baby Boy Bakery lost her three year old son, Ryan, in a tragic accident. While playing outside at a friend's house, Ryan was struck by a truck and passed away.

"A simple excitement to grab the frisbee that had escaped into the road was met with a tragic loss."
The moment I read this story, my heart began to ache for this precious family. I haven't stopped thinking about them since. I cried while scrolling through Jacqui's instagram account. The love her and her husband have for their red-headed baby is undeniable.

Another thing that is undeniable is love that the blogging community has for one another. over 31,000 people have taken to social media and poured out their love and support for Jacqui and her family by using the hashtag #RedBallonsForRyan. Each person has made a vow to never let little Ryan's memory fade. He is now dancing with the Lord in heaven, but his memory will forever last here on earth.
Right now the family needs our support. They need to know that we love and care for them through this difficult time. If you would like, grab a picture of Ryan from Jacqui's instagram account and repost it using the hashtag #RedBallonsForRyan. Be sure to also tag  Jacqui, @babyboybakery and Dan, @danno12Most importantly, However, pray. Pray for peace and comfort for the family. Pray for Jacqui and Dan as they plan the unfathomable task of burying their son. Pray for anything that may bring a sense of healing to this precious family.
Ryan, you will never be forgotten.
