SliceFest 2014

6.10.2014

I got married eight weeks ago (seriously?! It seems like it just happened last week!). I got married eight weeks ago, and the guest bedroom in our house has been covered in wedding presents since before the wedding. It's been driving me insane for eight weeks now, but we haven't had a free weekend to go through all  the presents until now. Saturday the husband and I pulled every last present out of the guest bedroom and put them all in their proper place. We were able to get rid of tons of old, cheap cookware and utensils (goodbye, college crap!) and replace them with new and gorgeous adult-like stuff. It took us all day, but we did it. We officially have a guest bedroom again and not a storage room full of boxes.

To celebrate our accomplishment, the husband and I met up with friends downtown for SliceFest 2014. I've already poured my heart out about my love for Birmingham, but it's fun weekend events like this one that just keeps my love for Birmingham alive. We listened to a few local bands, drank some local beer and ate way too much delicious pizza.
Minutes after the headlining band began playing, the rain came, which was followed by a mean little pop up
thunderstorm. Gotta love summers in the South! The crowd ran for cover and took shelter inside the pizza restaurant that was hosting the festival. We were crammed in shoulder to shoulder for a good twenty minutes when we decided that enough was enough and made a run for it to a bar across the street. Obviously we weren't going to let a little rain (or a lot of thunder and lighting) put a damper on our party!
Slicefest was just one of many festivals happening in and around Birmingham this summer, and I can't wait to experience them all!
Summer is here my friends.
Let's party!

  4. That looks like so much fun! Our extra room is slowly starting to fill up too and I keep trying to go through and make to donate piles of old stuff that we won't need anymore... then I realize those take up just as much room!
