Saying Yes To The Dress (What I Couldn't Share Before The Wedding)

6.04.2014

A few weeks after Steven got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife I made an appointment to Kleinfield Bridal in New York City. My mom and I have talked for years about going to New York to pick out my wedding dress when that special time came, so as soon as soon as it sank it that I was getting married, I got online and made that appointment. A few months later my mom, grandmother, maid of honor, and I packed our bags and flew to New York on a mission to find the perfect wedding dress.
I had done months of research on wedding dresses. I searched every website and bridal magazine out there. I found designers I liked, styles I loved, and colors that I thought would look best against my skin tone. I was going to come to my first and only dress appointment prepared. I was going to Say Yes to the Dress at Kleinfield Bridal.

When we arrived at Kleinfield I had butterflies in my stomach. I knew that I would walk out of the store that day with the dress that I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl. When we walked in I remember thinking that the lobby looked much smaller than it does on television, but I also remember how much larger the show room looked in person. There were several other anxious and giddy brides waiting in the lobby with their family and friends, so after checking in I sat down and giggled and smiled with the rest of them. We only waited for a few minutes when my consultant came through the lobby and called my name.
I didn't apply to be on the show Say Yes to the Dress, so I didn't even think about getting one of the consultants made famous by the show. Sure enough, however, the consultant that walked through the lobby and called my name was none other than the show favorite, Dianne. She walked up to me, shook my hand, and led my entourage and I to the front of the showroom where they place the families that they feature on the show. I gave Dianne an overview of my wedding and showed her pictures of dresses that I had picked out online. She then whisked me away to a dressing room and went on a mission to find my perfect wedding dress.

After changing into the famous Kleinfield pink robe, I sat and waited for Dianne to come back with what could be my dream dress. When she came back in she had a batch of five or so dresses in her hands. I first picked up a lace dress with an open back to try on. I've never been much of a lace kind of girl, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. I put the dress on and then walked out into the showroom to show my girls. It felt amazing to have on a wedding dress, but we quickly agreed that the lace was not for me. I went back to dressing room anxious to try on more.
Ten or so dresses later Dianne pulled out my dress. I knew that it was my dress from the very moment that I saw it on the hanger. It was beautiful! I slipped the dress on, and looked in the mirror. It was amazing. I practically bolted out of the dressing room and back to the show room to show my girls. They knew the moment that they saw it as well. This was my dress.
We all shed a few tears and shared a few hugs and then Dianne asked me the question that every bride dreams of hearing.
Morgan, are you saying yes to this dress?
Yes! I had found the wedding dress of my dreams! It was such a surreal experience and one that I will cherish forever. I'm also so thankful to have that moment caught on video and even more thankful that I can finally share that video for all to see!
