Lake Weekends Are The Best Weekends

4.28.2015

I haven't written a real weekend recap in a while, and since there's no time like the present I figured why not bang one out this morning? After all, this weekend was most definitely recap worthy!

Also, my mom told me I should probably mix it up a bit and write about something other than pregnancy (hi, mom!), so this is all I've got for you unless you want to read all about another week of pregnancy symptoms and cravings. And, if you are into that pregnancy stuff, then have no fear! Another bumpdate is coming for you tomorrow. I know you're excited.

Back to our fun filled weekend recap...

Friday afternoon Steven and I packed up the car and headed down to the lake to spend a couple of days with our best friends and our sweet Godson. The weather is finally warming up in Alabama, so we were all ready to break out our swimsuits and play on the water.

Unfortunately, we woke up Saturday morning to thunderstorms and heavy rain, but soon enough the rain cleared out and we even saw a bit of sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds. After the rain, the boys took the opportunity to get a little fishing in. They headed out on the boat while the girls stayed behind and relaxed at home. After lunch the boys decided to make their way back home and pick us up for a pontoon ride. It was still pretty cloudy, but we got a decent amount of boat time in on Saturday.

Sunday, however, was a different story. The weather was absolutely beautiful! The sun was beating down, and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky! We woke up, packed a cooler, and headed out on the boat to bask in the sunshine for the rest of the day. It was perfect! Before we knew it, hours had passed and it was time to head back to the house, pack up, and hit the road.
Lake weekends are most certainly my favorite kind of weekends. There is nothing more relaxing than spending time floating on the boat and laughing with friends. Steven and I caught ourselves several times during the weekend talking about our baby and how he or she will be here next summer to enjoy this time with us (you only thought you were getting away with a baby-free post, didn't you?!). It's hard to believe that this time next year our little one will be nearly 6 months old! I know that baby Sparks will grow up to enjoy being on the water just as much as his/her mommy and daddy enjoy it! For now, however, we will focus on spending our last summer together as a family of two. Cheers to many more weekends just like this one in the coming months!
