Concerts On A Weeknight Lead To Headaches The Next Morning.

5.08.2014

Last night the husband and I along with a couple of our friends made the impromptu decision to get dolled up, go out to a bar, and listen to a country concert... on a Wednesday night.

You see, yesterday I heard on the radio that Craig Campbell would be playing a concert at one of our go-to bars downtown (fun fact: it's actually the bar that Steven and I met at). We don't know much about Craig Campbell other than a couple of his songs on the radio, but we figured we had nothing better to do that night so it might be fun to go and listen to music.
We met up with our friends, had dinner, indulged in one too many happy hour specials, and danced the night away to country music. We actually had a lot of fun, and Craig Campbell puts on a pretty good show!

On our way home from the bar last night, Steven and I decided that we need to do more stuff like this. We're young, we don't yet have kids, and we have nothing getting in the way of making a last minute decision to go out for the night (even if it is on a week night). Instead of coming home after work, throwing on our sweatpants, and cleaning out our DVR, we are going to start indulging in all the fun events that go on in our city. From concerts to sporting events to charity events, there is literally something going on in Birmingham all the time. It's one of the reasons I love this city so much. So it's time we let go of this funk we have found ourselves in and start enjoying ourselves!
Oh yeah, and this was only concert number one for us for the week. Yesterday we scored (free!) tickets to the Jason Aldean and Florida Geogia Line concert for Friday night. I'm so excited for that one!

  1. My boyfriend and I are trying to do this more often too! Even if it's just sitting on our rooftop with wine or going to the bar down the street, anything is better than sitting on the couch night after night. I'm glad warm weather is here to stay so it's easier to get out and do stuff!

  2. I can totally relate. Sometimes we go forever on the weekdays without doing ANYTHING, all because it becomes such a routine. There should be some fun in those days too so I wanna start enjoything them more too! :)

  3. I 100% agree with ya! You guys enjoy yourself whenever possible.
I let my kids keep me boxed in this house, but it's time that we get out and do fun things when they come up too!
Having kids doesn't have to stop the fun, it just changes what you chose to do for fun lol

  5. Looks like you guys had a ton of fun!!! I heard about that concert for the first time yesterday morning too! I was like hmmm I could basically walk there from my office...but I had plans to meet up with some girls at Side Bar so I didn't entertain it for long. I am jealous of your Florida Georgia Line/Jason Aldean tickets!!!! We are going to go see the Black Jacket Symphony tomorrow night at Work Play. My husband got us tickets to go with his parents because they are doing the Beatles.

  7. This looks like so much fun & I am definitely jealous of your weekend concert plans! I know that Dan and I need to make it a point of getting out more and doing more fun things together before we have kids! I get so focused on the fact that I never have any down time when really every night we just head home and relax on the couch. Thanks for reminding me to get out more :)

  14. How fun!!!! I am too old to go anywhere on a weeknight. My mom did offer to buy me Luke Bryan tickets at the Hollywood Bowl for my bday in October... Not sure I can pass that one up.

  15. I love him! How fun! And score on the free tickets!! I need to get out & do more during the week too. I get home & all I want to do is sit in my PJs watching Netflix or cleaning out my DVR. I'm too young with too few responsibilites for that to be my life already.
