2014 Holiday Wish List

11.25.2014

I've made my list, checked it twice, and put together my full and complete holiday wish list. Here are a few things I'm lusting over this year. You know, just in case Santa is reading!

1 || Bar Cart. After months and months of searching for the perfect bar cart, I think I have finally found it! I love the size and storage that this particular cart offers. There is plenty of room for wine storage, bar accessories, and even a few other nik-naks. I love it!

2 || House Slippers. It's safe to say that the house slippers I am currently wearing have seen better days. In fact, it embarrasses me to admit this, but they are starting to get holes in the bottom of the soles. I think it's about time for an upgrade.

3 || Marc Jacobs Perfume. I ran out of perfume a couple of months ago, and I have yet to find a new scent that I like. That is until I smelled this delicious new Marc Jacobs scent, Dot. It's light and refreshing, yet still smells sweet and fun. I've worn a couple of other Marc Jacobs perfumes in the past, and I love how the scents hold up throughout the day.

4 || Sephora Gift Card.  Don't you hate it when you seem to run out of all your makeup at the exact same time? I'm finding myself scraping the bottom of my mascara and shaking out the very last drop of my powder. Granted I can make it through Christmas with my current supply, a Sephora shopping spree would be very much appreciated!

5 || Day Planner. I will never, ever grow out of putting a pen to paper and writing down my daily meetings and events. I've found that since I began blogging, my planner has become even more valuable. I'm currently using this Kate Spade planner, but I need something that gives me more structure and detail, and I am absolutely obsessed with this Emily Ley day planner. It is exactly what I've been looking for!

6 || Gold Bar Necklace. I've been dying for a gold bar necklace with our wedding date engraved in Roman Numerals, and this Etsy necklace is spot on to what I have been dreaming up. It's sweet and dainty, yet incredibly sentimental.

7 || Dining Room Light. What better way to accent my adorable new bar cart than with an updated light fixture? I've been dying to get rid of the outdated silver fixture in our dining room since we moved in, and I finally found one that would be the perfect replacement.

8 || Pet Odor Eliminator Candles.  Have you heard of these candles? I found them about a year ago at a local pet store in Birmingham. They were a steal at $10 per candle, so I decided to give them a try. I was instantly hooked! Not only do they smell delicious, but they really work to mask those pesky pet odors.

What's on your Christmas list this year?

I'm excited to introduce you today to Kristine and her adorable Boxer, Bentley! Seriously, how cute is that sweet puppy?! Kristine and Bentley are a one of a kind duo, and I know that you are going to love them as much as I do. When you're done reading about Kristine below, make sure you stop by Breakfast With Bentley and say hello!

Hi! My name is Kristine.
Kristine with a K.
Yeah… people misspell my name on a daily basis.
My parents wanted to be different, wanted me to be different, and now I'm stuck with a name in which I have to constantly correct people. It's ok. Adds to my character I guess :) Actually, the majority of my friends don't even call me by my first name. They call me, "Baxter" which is my maiden name. Some varieties are also used, such as, "Bax", "BaxStar" and "BaxtaBabe". (The last one solely because of my old AIM screen name.)
I talk faster than the average human. I have a boxer named Bentley. I used to be an English Teacher. I was also a roller skater and basketball player when I was younger (amongst other things). I love Soul Cycle, Sauvignon Blanc, Starbucks and Social Media, in no particular order.
My blog is a little bit of everything: DIY successes/failures, cooking failures (with a couple of successes haha), childhood memories, great quotes, lists, things I’m obsessed with, wedding advice, etc.
I equate visiting my blog to when I visit a Starbucks and tell them my name… you never know what version of “Kristine” is going to be written on that red cup.

When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in late June 2014. I started because I wanted to share my experiences with my friends and family, whether it is wedding planning, restaurant reviews, tasty recipes, exercise techniques, DIY projects or funny life events. I’m excited that I am continuing to reach a wider audience and many have shared their experiences with me!

How did you come up with the name of your blog?
We have a boxer, Bentley, who is 75 pounds of love. My husband leaves for work much earlier than I do, so when I wake up in the morning, I’m often greeted by kisses from my boxer who has climbed into bed and curled up beside me! We spend the first two hours of the day together, his head usually perched on my lap, as I enjoy my morning coffee and catch up on TV shows, emails or blog posts. This inspired me to name the blog, Breakfast with Bentley, because it is the best part of my day.

What can people expect when they visit your blog?
Conversational posts about life. I write my posts as if I’m chatting with you on the phone, or over a glass of wine on my couch. Whether it is a post about the latest exercise trend I’ve tried, a funny throwback story, a great recipe I found on Pinterest (that I have successfully cooked), or a positive quote that I love, you are bound to find some humor and honesty in every post.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Reading, hanging out w/ my husband, beach, Hot Yoga, Soul Cycle, working out with my trainer, running, making brides happy and creating their ornaments from my Etsy shop, binge watching shows on Netflix, hanging out with my friends, having dance parties.

Are you a sports fan? What’s your favorite sports team?
I’m a HUGE sports fan! I grew up playing sports, my father owns his own sporting goods store and we were instilled with the love of competition from an early age.
My favorite teams are the New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Knicks and New York Islanders (my husband would cringe at this last answer as he is a die hard NY Ranger fan.)

What is your favorite quote?
"It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be...We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re ...not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again" -Fitzgerald

    1. I agree - I love the daintiness of the necklace but the powerful and sentimental message behind it. I saw the Roman Numerals idea right after Steven and I got married, and I've been on the hunt for the perfect necklace to engrave ever since.
