Bumpdate || Weeks 7-9

4.17.2015

Week 7

How far along: 7 weeks

Due Date: November 7, 2015

Baby is the size of: A blueberry - 0.51 inches long and weighing in around 0.02 ounces.

Symptoms: Still just extreme fatigue. I've had small waves of nausea here and there (normally when I need to eat), but thankfully it hasn't been anything major.

Gender: I've been keeping a note on my phone with everyone's gender guess. There seem to be a few more people leaning towards girl at this point, but it's still a pretty close race. I go back and forth on thinking girl then boy.

Name: We have a name picked out for a boy and a name for a girl. and we will reveal the name after we find out the gender in late May.

Movement: I'm counting down the days until I can feel those little kicks! I can't wait!

Nursery: It's still the man cave for now.

Maternity Clothes: I ordered a maxi dress and a pair of white skinny jeans from Old Navy. They were both on sale, so I couldn't resist!

Sleep: I'm still staying fairly exhausted, so crawling into the bed at night has been my favorite part of the day as of late. I ordered a bumpnest last week, and it finally arrived on Friday. I love it already, and I can already imagine how helpful it will be when the bump starts growing!

Best moment this week: Our ultrasound this morning! It was amazing to see our little bean up on the screen. It was too early to hear the heartbeat, but we could definitely see it flickering away on the screen. Such an amazing moment for Steven and I to witness!
Missing anything: Not a thing! I'm loving every minute of this journey.

Cravings/Aversions: The only thing I've really been wanting to eat is sweets of any kind.

Mood: Beyond happy!

Looking forward to: Taking our announcement pictures in the coming weeks. I finally came up with and idea for the announcement. I'm just waiting on a couple of items to ship, and then we will schedule pictures. I'm so excited to finally publicly announce our news!

Husband is: As sweet and supportive as ever.

New mommy question: Nothing new this week, but I'm still looking for advice from previous questions.

Week 8

How far along: 8 weeks

Due Date: November 7, 2015

Baby is the size of: A raspberry - 0.63 inches long and weighing in around 0.04 ounces.

Symptoms: Still just fatigue, a sore chest, and major bloating. I have also noticed that I can't go too long in between meals or I get really nauseous. I'm trying to keep snacks with me at all times so I can get something quick in my system as soon as I start feeling hungry.

Gender: Last week I felt very confident that it was a girl. I don't know why, but suddenly I just felt like we were for sure having a girl. That lasted for a few days, and then I woke up one morning convinced it was a boy...

Name: We're waiting until after we find out the gender to reveal the name.

Movement: Too early for now.

Nursery: It's still the man cave. I have ideas brewing for a baby girl's nursery as well as a baby boy's nursery. We won't start on anything until we find out the gender.

Maternity Clothes: I've bought a few things here and there when I notice a big sale. I've already worn two maternity maxi dresses that I bought at Old Navy and Pink Blush because I couldn't resist how cute and comfortable they were!

Sleep: It's still my favorite part of the day!

Best moment this week: Spending the weekend in Nashville for my best friend's bachelorette party!

Missing anything: Nope! I didn't even miss sipping on cocktails in Nashville this past weekend... Well, I didn't miss it much at least.

Cravings/Aversions: No real cravings or aversions of any particular food, but I am having trouble finding foods to eat that sound appetizing. Nothing really sounds good. I'm also noticing that I can't eat large portions without feeling sick afterwards.

Mood: Happy and excited with a side of emotional. Last week I started crying because a lady yelled at me for turning in the wrong way at the bank.

Looking forward to: Steven's birthday party this weekend. He's turning the big 3-0 next week, so we are celebrating this weekend with a small party at my parent's house. I'm also looking forward to taking announcement pictures. I ordered our "props" for the pictures, so I'm just waiting for them to come in.

Husband is: Still just as excited as ever!

New mommy question: What are some of the "must haves" when it comes to maternity clothes? I really want to limit my spending in this area as much as possible.

Week 9

How far along: 9 weeks

Due Date: November 7, 2015

Baby is the size of: A green olive - 0.9 inches long and weighing in around 0.07 ounces. She/he is growing like crazy!

Symptoms: Nothing new to report. The fatigue is still in full force, but I would rather deal with that over morning sickness any day of the week!

Gender: Everyone except for me seems to have very strong opinions one way or the other. I'm, however, still going back and forth between thinking it's a girl one minute and thinking boy the next. We are going to doing a "sneak peek" ultrasound session that my doctor's office offers at 16 weeks, so we should know the gender by the end of May!

Name: We're waiting until after we find out the gender to reveal the name.

Movement: It's still early, but I'm looking forward to feeling those kicks!

Nursery: We're hoping to start clearing things out of the "man cave" in the coming weeks. We'll start working on the nursery once we find out the gender at the end of May.

Maternity Clothes: Nothing new here. I've been eyeing a few dresses from Pink Blush, but I'm trying to hold off until the weather warms up.

Sleep: Still heading for bed around 8:00 or 8:30 at the latest, and still sleeping great through the night.

Best moment this week: Celebrating the husband's 30th birthday with friends and family.

Missing anything: Nope!

Cravings/Aversions: I'm still craving sweets, and I've also gotten on a chick-fil-a kick. I could eat a spicy chicken sandwich and a lemonade every single day. Of course, I'm doing my best to limit that to an occasional splurge.

Mood: Every bit as happy and excited as I was the day we found out we were expecting.

Looking forward to: Making our big announcement on Sunday! We still have to get the pictures done, but hopefully we can get everything taken care of on Saturday.

Let it be known that I am also really looking forward to finally getting my hair highlighted in the next few weeks. I had an appointment to get a root touch up a couple of weeks before we found out I was pregnant. That appointment got rescheduled, and by the time the new appointment rolled around, I had already discovered there was a baby on board. Everything I've read told me to wait until after the first trimester for hair color, so I canceled my appointment. I was already in desperate need of a touch up by this point! Fast forward to a month and a half later, and things are getting really rough over here. I've been wearing my hair thrown up on top of my head for weeks now hoping that would somewhat hide the horrendous roots I have growing over here. I will be SO glad when I get this hair situation taken care of!

Husband is: Excited to finally let the cat out of the bag and announce our big news!

New mommy question: It's time to start looking into some of the big ticket items that I will be putting on my registry. Any recommendations for strollers, car seats, monitors, etc.?

  1. It's crazy...your experience so far sounds almost exactly how mine has gone. I didn't have any nausea/vomiting except nausea when I got hungry, bloating was ridiculously horrible, nothing ever sounded good to eat, and I lived off peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and cereal for several weeks. I'm still craving sweets more than anything, but haven't had any of the weird cravings. My husband bought me a bumpnest for my birthday, and I love it! We go April 30th to find out boy or girl, and I can't wait! I have a feeling it's a boy, but I desperately want a girl. Ahh still so excited for you!

  2. I LOVE reading your bumpdates! I'm still so happy for y'all! I LOVE the print on the dress you're wearing - if it's the Old Navy print, I totally bought it in the maxi dress and the tunic top. I just couldn't help myself. :)

  3. You look so great! I've been trying with maternity clothes to find dresses and skirts that are non maternity that can hopefully fit for a while and I'll still be able to wear after baby. Then I've been buying more basics like capris and tanks and tshirts that are maternity to pair with those skirts and also just for comfort on the weekends!

  4. Great reading your experiences, I'm so glad you haven't gotten sick. You are glowing!!

Maternity clothes is TOUGH. I have a hard time finding things that fit properly, I just feel lucky that I'll be really big mostly in the summer months. My staples have just been maternity t-shirts. Can't wait until it is warm enough to wear maxi dresses. All the baby gear is extremely overwhelming. so far we have chosen the baby jogger summit and the chicco key fit 30 car seat. Good luck!

  6. So happy for you guys!! Our little girl was just born this past November on the 18th so your timeline is similar to mine. My favorite things to wear were maxi dresses and skirts. You hit your 3rd trimester at the end of summer and maternity maxi dresses are your best friend!
