Bumpdate || Week 27

How far along: 27 weeks!

Due Date: November 7, 2015

Baby is the size of: a rutabaga. She's weighing somewhere around 2.5 lbs. and measuring about 14.5 to 15 inches long. This week she is officially showing brain activity! Her brain will only continue to get more complex as she grows stronger in my belly over the next few months.
Symptoms: Lower back/hip pain and SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction). SPD is basically the pelvic pain that occurs due to the hormone relaxin which is softening the ligaments in the hips and pelvis to prepare the body for labor. My aches and pains are all normal and just a part of growing a sweet baby in my belly! Although the pain can be aggravating at times, I'm incredibly blessed that I have had such an easy pregnancy thus far.

Gender: Our sweet baby GIRL!

Name: Charlie Elizabeth

Movement: It only took 27+ weeks, but last night Steven finally felt his little girl kick! We were in bed watching tv when she started moving around, so I put Steven's hand on my belly. A few minutes later she gave him a big kick! She put on a show for a few minutes and kicked him a few more times before calling it quits for the night. It was such a special moment for him!

Nursery: Nothing new to report here. We've got to get going on the decorating, so hopefully I'll have something to add soon. You can see her nursery inspiration here

Maternity Clothes: Yep - maternity leggings and tank tops are my go to items.

Sleep: There is a lot of tossing and turning these days due to hip pain throughout the night, but thankfully I'm able to fall back asleep without any trouble.

Best moment this week: Lots of family time!

Missing anything: Nothing really.

Cravings/Aversions: Cereal. More specifically Lucky Charms. For some reason I got the idea of Lucky Charms in my head last week and had to have a bowl. I bought a box at the grocery store that afternoon and ate the entire box in three days. They were delicious! Other than that, my sweet tooth is still in full force these days. I have the dreaded glucose test next Tuesday, so I've been trying to cut back on the sweets and carbs in preparation for it. Chicken and warm vegetables would be the perfect thing to eat right now, but unfortunately the idea of both still makes me want to gag.

Mood: The same as usual, happy and blessed!

Looking forward to: While I'm not necessarily looking forward to my glucose test on Tuesday, I am looking forward to my doctor appointment that day. This will mark the last appointment that is scheduled four weeks apart. After this appointment I'll start going every two weeks. That means we are this much closer to meeting our girl!

Husband is: Incredibly busy these days. He's working so hard for his girls, and we appreciate him more than he'll ever know!

New mommy question: I registered for Dr. Browns bottles, but I'm wondering if there are better options out there? I plan to breastfeed, so the only time bottles will be used is when I pump.

  1. Looking radiant! I"m sorry you're having bad back pain, I wish I could tell you it gets better :) It will all be worth it, just think of all the amazing things your body is doing. Not that I know from experience, but my friends with babies have told me not to go crazy with buying all types of bottle just yet. Every baby is different and you won't know what Charlie Beth prefers until she's here.

  2. If it helps, those are pretty much the only bottles Sheffield likes. We have a few Medela, but it seems like he has a hard time with the nipples. You are looking gorgeous and I'm so excited to see you tomorrow!!

  3. Do you have a brand of maternity leggings you like? I'm already living in regular leggings- I'm at that weird time where maternity clothes don't fit but my regular clothes don't either (especially pants!).

And seriously- SUCH a bad sweet tooth here too! I can't stop- give me all the cookies and ice cream in the world!!

    2. I actually just wrote a post today sharing one of my favorite styles! Old Navy has great maternity leggings. I also purchased a couple of pair at Motherhood Maternity. Just make sure you get the full panel style. SO comfortable!! I literally live in them these days.

  4. Both my kids would only use the playtex with drop ins for bottles for the first 2-3 months (after trying several bottles). They eventually did great with avent bottles, and I liked that I didn't have to buy the liners anymore. You are glowing, and make pregnancy look great!

  6. You look awesome! We used Avent bottles with my little boy. Dr. Browns bottles looked too complex and lots of my friends complained bout cleaning all the diff parts. But, Charlie will decide what she likes, so I don't recommend going out and buying a ton of bottles until you know what she likes :)
