Baby Sparks #2 Bumpdate || 32, 33 & 34 Weeks

1.24.2018

How far along: 34 weeks, 2 days

Due Date: March 5, 2018

Baby is the size of: Butternut Squash. I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and our big boy was already measuring right at 5 lbs. Babies typically gain half a pound per week at this gestation, so he is probably weighing in around 6 lbs right now. He's measuring a full two weeks ahead and is probably going to be tall like his daddy. The ultrasound tech said he had a pair of long legs on him. :)

Gender: a precious little BOY!!

Symptoms: Exhausted and feeling allll the lower body aches and pains that happen after baby drops. So much pressure!

Labor Signs: Hold tight, this is going to be a long update - The night before my 32 week appointment I started having contractions. They got down to 4-5 minutes apart for a while and finally started to spread back out before I went to sleep. It was also the night of the National Championship game (Roll Tide), so I just blamed the contractions on the intensity of the game. By the time I made it to my appointment the next morning I had started contracting again. My doctor decided it was best to send me down to Labor and Delivery and see what was going on. Thankfully I was not dilated, but contractions were coming every 5 minutes or so. They ordered an ultrasound to check on baby (he looked great!), gave me two doses of a Brethine shot to stop contractions (that shot is seriously the WORST) and sent me home on Procardia to keep contractions away. That seemed to help for a while.
Fast forward to Sunday night (33w6d). Contractions started up again and were coming pretty consistently. I had taken my medicine and it wasn't helping the situation at all. By around 11:00 I decided they were consistent enough that I probably needed to call the doctor. Unlike the contractions I had been having, these were starting to feel painful. They told me to head to Labor and Delivery, so off we went. I had to once again have contractions stopped with a shot of Brethine. I was also told that I was starting to dilate. I had a doctor's appointment already scheduled for the next morning, so they discharged me and told me to come back and see my doctor for my appointment. By then contractions were back but not as severe as the previous night. Bascially, I am in Prodromal labor. This is basically the super early stages of labor. The contractions I am having are real and they are helping my body make progress, just really, really slow progress. Prodromal labor can last days or weeks or even up to a month. As of Monday I was 1cm dilated. I'm contracting an average of every 10 minutes pretty much all day long, and it's completely exhausting! As frustrating as these contractions are, however, I'm hoping that baby boy decides to stay put for another couple of weeks. We need his lungs nice and developed before he makes his grand entrance.

Weight Gain: up 12 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight

Movement: He's still super active, but his movements are starting to slow down. He's running out of room in there! He still gives me plenty of rolls and jabs throughout the day though.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing really. My appetite is definitely down these days. Nothing really sounds good. I usually settle for a bowl of cereal over anything else.

Missing anything: Sleep. The pregnancy insomnia has kicked in!

Sleep: See above.

Mood: I've been more emotional lately, for sure.

Maternity Clothes: I have like 3-4 things that fit over this massive belly. :)

Nursery: It's almost done!! I am seriously obsessed with how cute this nursery turned out. I have a few more things to get and hang and then it will be ready. I can't wait to show off pictures!

Best moment this week: These past few weeks have been such a blur, but thanks to a few "snow days" we have gotten a lot of good family time in. I'm enjoying the extra one on one time with my girl before baby brother gets here.

Looking forward to: Tucker's arrival!

  1. Rhylan is also measuring a little on the big side. At 32 weeks with Rory, she was already 6 lbs 1 oz. My next ultrasound with Rhylan will be in just under 5 weeks when I'll be 32 1/2 weeks pregnant. I'm really anxious to see how much Rhylan is weighing in then and the estimated birth weight they give me- Rory was born at 38 1/2 weeks weighing 8 1/2 lbs. I also can't wait to see Tucker's nursery!!! Seeing everyone's nurseries is such a joy for me lol.

  7. More and more pregnant women are turning to chiropractic care during their pregnancies. So, what is responsible for chiropractic's increasing popularity during pregnancy?
