Let's Talk Wedding Venue

6.05.2013

Booking our wedding venue was one of the first things the fiancé and I did after we got engaged. I researched wedding venues for weeks online, called and emailed about 50 different places, and viewed a handful of spots before we decided on our venue. The moment we drove up to the venue we chose we knew that it was the one. It is perfect. It's everything I've ever dreamed of and more.
We are getting married on a southern plantation. Think Sweet Home Alabama. The house is a beautiful southern mansion built in 1834. Behind the house sits the most precious little white chapel that I have ever seen. The 1830's chapel is complete with original floors, stain glass windows, and a church bell. The moment I walked into the chapel I could picture myself walking down the isle.
The reception will take place throughout the property. Behind the house sits a small little barn and a conservatory. We will have a band play on the patio of the house with a dance floor directly in front of them. In the middle of the backyard sits a beautiful antique fire and water feature to keep our guests warm into the night. Our venue is perfect, and there is truly no other place that I could picture having my wedding than here.

  1. Hi Morgan! I'm Ginny from Buttergirl Diaries...I you a week or so ago on Belle in Boots! Loved your comment today! I can't wait to write that post too after I get married. I have very drama free BM's so I don't think i will have much material. I saw you are engaged too! Congrats!

It's funny, I'm getting married oat a VERY similar venue as yours. It's in North Carolina and It's called Highgrove. http://www.highgrove-nc.com/

Love your venue!!!!! That chapel is elegant. There is soemthing about plantations/estates that are just so classy and elegant. But you know how we southern gals do it? We always do it in style:)

I absolutely REFUSED to get married in a ballroom or hotel. Ew!! That's so 1983 and totally. not. me. :)

I wrote a post today about how facebook, cell phones, and weddings can mix together and ruin your wedding day! Following you now and can't wait to read more about all of the great wedding stuff! :)

  4. Awww I love plantation weddings! Mine is as well, I'm getting married at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, there's just something so nice about having it around such beautiful scenery! You're lucky though that you have a chapel as well, we're doing an outside ceremony in August, I'm already praying that the weather will be kind to me! haha

    Thanks for linking up :)

  5. That is so beautiful. I am seriously in love with your wedding venue. My wedding venue in Barrie is very similar to this, but I really like the plantation feel to yours. Best of luck to you on your wedding. It will be a beautiful day, I'm sure!
