Decorating Shenanigans

11.25.2013

Christmas has officially arrived in the (soon-to-be) Sparks' household (well, sort of), and I couldn't be more excited! I spent the majority of the weekend pulling out boxes of Christmas decorations and cleaning the house for my grandmother's arrival this week. Something about cleaning with a Christmas candle burning and lights twinkling just makes the process a little more relaxing.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's rewind back to Friday night.

Friday.
Friday night the fiancé and I decided to have a date night in. Meaning we didn't so much as even leave the house (except to get beer). we ordered take-out, curled up on the couch with the dogs, and popped in a movie. I'm pretty sure we were both asleep on the couch by 9:30pm.

Saturday.
Steven left early Saturday morning to play golf, so I took the opportunity to start on Christmas decorations. I pulled everything out of the back of the closet only to realize that I really didn't have nearly enough to decorate a whole house with. I did what I could with what I had, browsed Pinterest for ideas on additional decoration, and waited for Steven to get home so we could go get our Christmas tree. I wasn't able to start decorating the tree because it hadn't yet fallen, so we put it in the tree stand and admired our bare tree for the rest of the night while grilling out steaks (in the freezing cold) and drinking beer. We were once again asleep by 9:30pm.
Zombie Puppy eyes!
Sunday.
Steven again left the house at the crack of dawn, this time to go hunting, so I spent the day running errands, brunching with a friend, and making a couple of DIY Christmas decorations. I planned on finally decorating the tree last night, but the stupid thing still hasn't fallen out. So, instead of tree decorating Steven and I went over to our favorite newlywed's house for dinner.

It may not seem like much of a weekend, but after so much travel within the last few months, this kind of weekend was definitely needed. I think I slept over twelve hours each night, and it was amazing!
Hooray for a short work week and lots of time spent with family in the coming days!
