Bumpdate || Week 17

6.03.2015

17w3d
How far along: 17 weeks

Due Date: November 7, 2015

Baby is the size of: An onion or a turnip! Baby is about 5 inches from crown to rump and weighing in between 5 and 6 ounces.

Symptoms: Still just round ligament pain and heartburn. Definitely nothing to complain about!

Gender: A sweet baby GIRL

Name: I'll be revealing her name tomorrow on the blog, so make sure you check back then!

Movement: Yes! The movements are still very subtle and still pretty inconsistent, but I love feeling her move inside my belly!

Nursery: The crib arrived yesterday! I also ordered fabric swatches for her nursery (at the time I ordered fabric swatches for both, a boy room and a girl room), so we have an overall theme in mind. We just have to tackle the task of getting the man room cleared out and putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

Maternity Clothes: Still mixing and matching maternity items with non-maternity clothes, but I'm wearing a lot more maternity these days.

Sleep: It seems like I've jinxed myself talking about all the great sleep I've had thus far. That changed a bit this week. I find myself waking up uncomfortable throughout the night. I've been tossing and turning a lot, but thankfully I'm able to go back to sleep pretty easily.

Best moment this week: Finding out that we have a precious baby girl on the way!

Missing anything: Still wine, but I'm really not missing it nearly as much as I expected that I would.

Cravings/Aversions: Same ole' thing here: blue Gatorade and sweets are still a favorite and hot green vegetables still make me want to gag. Last night Steven and I went out for date night at one of our favorite Hibachi restaurants. I usually love the vegetables that come with the meal there, and I thought that if I dipped them in enough shrimp sauce I would be able to get them down. I was wrong. They were so disgusting I could hardly look at them.

Mood: Beyond grateful! We are so excited that God is blessing our family with a sweet baby girl! It's amazing to be able to refer to her by name instead of just saying "the baby." I am so excited for November to get here so I can wrap her in my arms!

Looking forward to: Getting some work around the house done this weekend and hopefully starting on her nursery!

Husband is: Adorable - This little girl is already wrapped around her daddy's finger! Steven has started reading a book to the baby almost every night before bed. It's definitely my favorite part of the day, and I know our sweet girl loves listening to her daddy's voice.

New mommy question: What are some of your registry must haves? We are going to start registering soon, and it's already so overwhelming! Registering for baby is much more difficult than registering for the wedding!

  2. OMG yes to the registering. B and I were so worn down after that. Like walking out like zombies. If I had any advice, just prepare yourself to be overwhelmed -- we did our research and it was still so much!! That dress is adorable on you! And I'm with you -- it's just the best to finally give "the bump" a name!! Makes it feel all the more real!

  3. I ditto what Laura says in her comment.. you're going to be so overwhelmed. Start with the big stuff first, like the car seat, then move on to the little stuff like the bath toys. I did it the other way around and by the time I got to the car seats I was crying. Also, pace yourself. You don't have to be 100% registered in 1 day. I've actually made a ton of changes online since starting! Another thing if you have a Babies R Us, they are 103943294309% better than Target at customer service. I did Target 1st, then went to BRU and could have kissed the employee at BRU that helped us. Such sweet people!

  5. PS - now that you know it's a girl, I totally recommend that car seat canopy I talked about like a week ago or so! Ours came in and I'm really impressed with the quality! My freebie code is still good too {64BACC534}

  7. I love that he's reading to her every night. So sweet! And having the name makes it feel so much more real, doesn't? I'm so torn about sharing our name publicly though, does that make me a jerk?! haha.
